Privacy Policy
Unpacking the World is a public website that publishes articles, guides, and product recommendations. This policy explains what information may be collected when you visit the site.
Information we collect
We do not ask visitors to create accounts, sign in, or submit personal information to read the site. If you contact the publication by email or through a third-party platform, the information you choose to send may be used to respond to that request.
Cookies and analytics
The site does not set advertising cookies. Some non-Amazon outbound links record daily totals by article and destination host; these totals are requests, not verified human visits, and omit IP addresses, user identifiers and full destination URLs. Amazon purchase links go directly to Amazon; clicks and commissions must be checked in Associates reports, not inferred from our link counter. Cloudflare Web Analytics is configured for cookieless page-load and performance measurement with EU visitors excluded. On eligible public pages, our security policy permits only its beacon script and same-domain reporting endpoint. Known automated requests, DNT/GPC signals and the browser preference below keep that beacon blocked. Cloudflare separately processes technical data such as IP addresses, request URLs and security events to deliver and protect the site. We do not link pageviews to purchases or claim these counts represent unique people.
Exclude this browser from site measurement
We skip recognized automated and prefetch requests and honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals for our outbound counter and public-page beacon permission. These filters cannot identify every bot. You can also exclude this browser, including your own visits when maintaining the site. The button saves a fixed opt-out preference for one year in a Secure, HTTP-only cookie named __Host-utw-measurement. It contains no unique identifier. Repeat this on each browser or device. Clearing that cookie removes the preference; browser privacy signals still apply. After the next page navigation, this preference excludes our outbound counter and keeps the Web Analytics beacon blocked by our security policy. It does not stop Cloudflare infrastructure processing or measurement on third-party sites.
Affiliate links and third-party sites
Articles may include affiliate links or links to third-party websites, including product pages, marketplaces, publishing platforms, and social networks. If you click those links, the destination site may collect information under its own privacy policy. Unpacking the World is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.
If you subscribe, request support, or otherwise provide an email address in the future, that address will be used only for the purpose described at the point of collection, such as sending updates or responding to a message. The site does not currently sell personal information.
Data retention
Technical logs and operational records are retained only as needed for security, debugging, publishing, and legal compliance. Email correspondence may be kept as long as needed to handle the request.
Children
The site is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the site adds features or third-party services. The latest version will be available on this page.
